Partnerships with charities, community groups and sporting organisations extend The Star Entertainment Group's commitment to responsible corporate citizenship beyond the provision of safe and compliant entertainment venues.
Treasury Brisbane celebrated it 16 years of continual support for “Choice, Passion, Life” with $50,000 being donated to the charity partner in addition to over $10,000 raised for the annual ‘We’ll Make a Change’ fundraising event.
Since 2014, Treasury Brisbane and The Star Gold Coast have donated $3 million to Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland.
The Star Gold Coast continued its unbroken support of Surf Life Saving Queensland (a partnership launched in 1994) through its rebranded fundraising initiative ‘Save Our Savers Week’ with $31,000 in equipment donated to surf lifesaving clubs across the Gold Coast.
In 2017, The Star Gold Coast celebrated its 20-year partnership with Cancer Council Queensland. The Gold Coast property helped raise awareness for patients and their families through the unveiling of a moving daffodil projection on The Star’s iconic façade and bolstered its commitment to Cancer Council Queensland as a Major Event Partner of the Gold Coast ‘Relay for Life’ for two years, combined with a $23,000 donation.
Open Your Hearts:
Our team members are also actively involved in giving back to the community through our internal support program, 'Open Your Hearts.' This initiative allows Treasury Brisbane and The Star Gold Coast team members to nominate charities or groups in their local communities to receive donations or funding from the organisation. In the 2018 financial year, our team members raised more than $34,000.
Fostering local spirit, by supporting events that resonate with relevant cities and regions aligns with The Star Entertainment Group's goal of being a valued participant in the wider community. In the 2018 financial year our partnerships included:
The Star Sydney: Seed funding to assist City West Housing and other local community groups to organise the annual Ultimo-Pyrmont ‘Uptown Festival’, held in October 2017. The Star was also a major sponsor of other local community events including the ‘Pyrmont Food and Wine Festival’ and ‘Christmas in Pyrmont’. The Star Sydney assisted the local Chamber of Commerce to re-establish the Pyrmont Growers Market as well as supporting OzHarvest’s ‘Think. Eat. Save.’ Campaign and the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras.
In addition to our local commitments, The Star Sydney continues its support and involvement in a variety of local event and sporting partnerships. The Star announced a two-year partnership with Hyundai A-League team Sydney FC, while also continuing its partnership with NSW Rugby League Blues, AFL team Sydney Swans; The Australian Turf Club’s key race meets including The Star Doncaster Mile, The Everest and The Star Chinese Festival of Racing.
The Star Gold Coast: Official Partner Blues on Broadbeach, naming rights sponsor of The Star Gold Coast 5.7km Challenge, and Accommodation Partner of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon which attracts 25,000 participants of all ages and abilities from over 50 countries, official partner of the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) and Home of the victorious 2017 Queensland Maroons team, in conjunction with Treasury Brisbane
In April 2018, as key supporter of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, The Star Gold Coast transformed into world-class hub for athletes and guest from around the world to enjoy. We welcomed more than 6,500 guests across two wonderful weeks’ competition, serving 120,000 meals, and 360,000 drinks as athletes and visitors celebrated on the lawn and at Nineteen at The Star restaurant and bar.
