Increasing our visitation across our properties and operating our plant and equipment, bathrooms, kitchens, guest services all contribute to our overall consumption. We conducted water assessments across our properties in FY15 to determine opportunities for savings. As a result, throughout 2016 we actively retrofitted higher WELS rated fixtures to reduce water consumption.
As each of our properties is located in different geographical climates we have different pressures to reduce water. We initiated the below projects to reduce consumption:

  • The installation of water saving devices across The Star Entertainment Group’s properties resulted in savings of approximately 52,282 kL to offset increasing water usage. Commencement of the hotel room upgrade at Jupiters Hotel & Casino has led to 22,000 kL of additional water savings that has assisted in offsetting a reduction in grey water through the recycled water plant in the 2016 financial year. At the Star we have an integrated seawater cooling system in place to use outside harbour water to provide cooling.  We continue to specify specify that high WELS rated showers, taps and bathroom facilities should be utilised across our properties in our Sustainable Design Guidelines.
